Does anyone remember when Yolandi Vi$$er rapped the lyrics “Neill Blomkamp’s making me a movie star” in ‘Baby’s on Fire’. Well guess what! Director Neill Blomkamp has given South African rave rap crew Die Antwoord his blessing to star in his new sci-fi comedy Chappie.

The film has been confirm to have a budget of $50 million US and is set to be shot from September to December this year 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

So what do we know about Chappie? Die Antwoord will be playing themselves but info is fairly tight. The only quote Blomkamp has said in relation is “It’s a science-fiction comedy thing, that’s as far as I can go with that.” Damn you Blomkamp. Give us something better to chew in to!

Bloomkamp is best known for his movie ‘District 9’ which was largely about a space craft landing in South Africa full of sick Aliens they cutely labelled ‘Prawns’.

So, this project inevitably means there may be some time before Die Antwoord release new music or hell maybe they would release an album with the movie next year? Wonder what their acting skills will be like!
