Daft Punk fails to hit #1 spot in Australia

Daft Punks first single in 7 years “Get Lucky” has failed to reach the #1 spot in Australia being kept at bay by travelling troubadour Passenger by a mere 115 sales according to ARIA stats (maybe we liked the 8-bit version better?)

Elsewhere in the world the single, collaborated on with Nile Rogers and Pharrell Williams faired better earning the French duo their first UK #1 single knocking out Rudimental with 155,000 sales.

One pom in particular, Fatboy Slim also shared the sentiments of his fellow English telling The Daily Star “I’m so impressed by them. It’s a breath of fresh old school air. The EDM thing has become a collection of huge noises that sound the same and are a bit bland. I’m glad Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse. They are so simple and melodic. They’re the last great dance music supergroup you’ll hear.”

In other Daft Punk news it’s reported there will be a music video for “Get Lucky” even though the robots were said to not be making any videos for the ‘Random Access Memories’ album, instead asking fans to focus on the music.

The album drops May 17th to coincide with the Australian launch in the rural town of Wee Waa where fans will be the first in the world to hear the record in full.

Update: taking it to our fans on the Stoney Roads Facebook, suggestions flowed in quick and fast, some thought the release on the US iTunes before the Aus forced those fans to download the track, the total ‘molestation’ of the track in crappy remixes/edits/bootlegs and some saying the single just wasn’t that great.
