A-Trak hits out at Avicii and recent interview

A-Trak has hit out hard at Avicii after his recent interview with GQ magazine where the Swede stated that DJing is mostly “before work,” justifying most of the set list and transitions are worked out before he gets onstage..

The response to reading the frank article was swift on Twitter with the Canadian born DMC champion and ADIDAS sponsored A-Trak quoting “So there’s an @Avicii article in @GQMagazine where he says his sets are completely pre-planned & reading the crowd is a thing of the past…”

He continues
“He also complains about opening djs who play the same big songs from his set — which are the same songs everyone else plays…”

and
“So if I understand correctly, DJs should be robots and each pre-planned robot should know their place…?”

“Dudes live in a bubble, they think what they hear in bottle service clubs and festivals is djing. That’s just entertainment.”

In predictable response to the backlash, Avicii has consistently detested Jessica Pressler interpretation of him in GQ magazine, but to us, when you read it, it comes across as she just wrote it how she saw it. “The problem was that a journalist that knows nothing of electronic music was sent on the road with me for a couple of days and then tried piecing together what it’s all about,” – I don’t know how much you would have to know anyway and it’s a bit of a shrug to assume that she doesn’t!

A-Trak (who’s song has been remixed incredibly well by Jack Beats) being a veteran to the touring circus signed off his rant with: “Welcome to the EDM circus show.”

Proof to how you can be creative in sets below thanks to A-Trak
