Tweet – Oops (Tarquin Remix)

Everyone knows that post-nightclub sex is often clumsy, sweaty, and regrettable. But if, like Tweet purrs in her 2002 collaboration with Missy Elliott, you’re “still so high, hypnotised, in a trance”, apparently all the awkward moments are neatly obscured. Judging by the rest of the lyrics, that grunting tangle of limbs that’s writhing around in the middle of your living room floor can seem like the sauciest, most smouldering sex anyone’s ever had if you’re not paying attention.

Remixing the original tune into the sound of the moment – deep house – is possibly the most effective way to bring dangerously inaccurate descriptions of drug use into 2013 club culture, and Tarquin has done just that.

However none of that is relevant to the fact that this track necessitates immediate loin girding. Warm, invigorating synths dance around each other, only bound by the super tight percussion laid down by this Guildford-based producer. Tarquin’s recent ‘ruff-bump’ of DamFunk’s ‘I Don’t Want To Be A Star’ was equally striking. I legitimately let out a “phwoar” as that fat, horn-imitating synth bounced into the mix, and further lost my shit when its behaviour proved impossible to predict.

Grab a free download, then head to the nearest bathroom and indulge yourself in a private, live action collage of low-grade, shamelessly fun dance moves. There’s no way it won’t improve your day.
