The Loops Of Fury Talk Their Favourite Producers

It only seemed fitting to pressure fast-rising production duo Loops Of Fury into toting their favourite producers as we envision their future careers to match those that have banged it out before!

The London duo have also recently collaborated with veteran electronic producer Moby on a track called “Para” that threads together classic 90’s piano and more modern basslines, equating to one hellovatune.

Lets get this thing started with the elephant in the room…which would be The Chemical Brothers of course! Tom and Ed began at the forefront of the 90s Big Beat revolution, and then changed it up with shades of Acid House, Hip Hop, Psychedelic Rock, and a whole heap of weird shit. One time they were actually accused of making minimal techno, but that was (hopefully) a joke. What makes them so phenomenal is their ability to keep cranking out amazing hit songs while maintaining that unmistakeable Chemsy sound, and never succumbing to musical peer pressure. Anyone who thinks that The Salmon Dance was a sell out track needs to re-listen to that beat again, it’s pretty damn ridiculous (although the vocal is a bit silly). And of course we acquired our name from one of their early tracks, which we view as the ultimate homage, so hopefully they don’t sue us!

Next up is a current favourite of ours Jacques Lu Cont, who despite the name isn’t French but a very white looking English chap named Stuart Price. Apparently for a time he only conducted interviews using an interpreter, which seems like a fairly enormous length to go to but maybe it was just a ploy to get the ladies. This guy has got some serious pedigree, writing as the Thin White Duke and Les Rythmes Digitales (remember Jacques Your Body?), and also making hits for Madonna, New Order, Lady Gaga and, um, Take That. These days he’s having somewhat of a clubland renaissance with remixes for the likes of Boys Noize and Tiga, and we are having a REALLY hard time limiting ourselves to just 2 or 3 songs of his when we play.

And then there is our homies Mumbai Science, a production duo from Belgium with a knack for making techno fun. The Belgians have a long tradition of making quality beer and dance music (think La Chouffe / 2ManyDJs), and these guys are a good combination of the two. More evolution than revolution, the Mumbai sound is getting darker with age, and that suits us just fine. Word on the street is that they are currently working on an album, which excites us immensely.

Back the big boys, Justice is arguably the worlds biggest (credible) electronic act at the moment. Their debut album was massive, and for a while it seemed like everyone was trying to rip them off. So what did they do for that notoriously difficult second album? Pretty much completely change their sound. In an act of defiance and pure balls, Justice honed in on their disco and 70s rock roots and made a completely different beast altogether. And it would be fair to say that most people initially felt let down. We were certainly disappointed on the first listen to a leaked copy of Civilisation. But over time we have come to love it, and such is their genius that well over a year after it’s release it is still getting play. Seriously, it’s a better album. And their live show fucking ROCKS.

Which brings us to the top dog: Boys Noize. Undoubtably our favourite producer and DJ, Mr Noize is the current gold standard of quality popular dance music. Behind the decks he is technical and inventive (check out his 2008 Pukklepop set for complete madness), and in the studio he has been responsible for some of the best tracks of the last 5 or so years. We’re talking Waves/Death Suite (with Erol Alkan), &Down, Jeffer,  and our current favourite Ich R U (OK so we just moved to Berlin). He’s also done some great collaborative projects as diverse as Dog Blood (with Skrillex) and Handbraekes (with Mr Oizo). And besides his tunes and DJ skills being amazing (and now a live show where he plays inside a Terminator skull), his label BNR is the shit. Case closed!

So there you have it, that’s our favourite producers. It seems like a good idea at this point to mention that we’ve just released a track we made with Moby called Para on our brand new label called Lotus Recordings. You can check it out here:
