Tips For A Bomb Dj Set With Jubilee

“It’s hard to actually put together a set before a show because you really never know what you are going to want to play until you are up there DJing. What I try to do is pick a small list of songs that I absolutely have to play and then build around them as I go on and it all flows together with whatever you are feeling from the crowd. I try to limit it as best I can so I am not lost in a giant sea of my entire music collection. Sticking to one CD book or crate for the digital DJ) lately has really helped my brain to play a good set because I have crazy ADD. I mean let’s be real, you usually only have an hour (2 if you are lucky) you don’t need all one million tunes in your computer. I try to bring myself back to the days of actually putting records in a crate and it really helps. Taking “only what I can carry”. As a DJ and producer I also like to play a lot of my own songs because it’s a great feeling when you can see people enjoying the music you made. I am really into building a vibe and telling some sort of a story throughout. I was a DJ before I started making music so I think that is really important. Djs that are really doing that right for me in the DJ set department are Kingdom, Cooly G, Boys Noize, J Phlip and DJ DODGER STADIUM. They have all kept me dancing throughout their entire sets in the past year.”

We couldn’t agree more with Jubilee’s picks on Djs doing it big out there. With Memebers of Nighslugs, Body High, Dirtybird, and Boys Noize himself you can see the future of dance unfold in their sets. As djs become more and more dependent on computers and flash drives it’s easy to get lost is a storm of tunes trying to decide what fits next. A good deck master keeps its simple, knows their sound, but has enough to keep it versatile. Though Jess states building a vibe is important keep in mind her favorties ‘kept her dancing all night long.’ Have a listen to Jubilee’s set from Radio 1 and head over to her networks and check out here recent tunes with T&B boss Star Eyes. Oh yea, and if you want your crowd sweatin’ all night… book her.
