UK Indie star calls out David Guetta

French dance producer David Guetta has managed to notch up a few dissaproving adversaries over time having made his way from decent electronic productions some years ago to his current warped commercial projects with most of today’s pop stars.

The latest scathing attack comes courtesy of Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis who bluntly puts it “David Guetta is basically… it’s not even something that really makes my blood boil because it is just bullshit. It is an abomination but there needs to be bad music around,” he said.

Adding “You need Jilly Cooper novels and pulp, trashy culture. Plus, some people like shit music. I don’t like David Guetta and I don’t like that style. What bothers me more really is that a lot of hip-hop is being played over those backing tracks, and I find that a shame because I like hip-hop a lot.”

His reasoning? A comparison of yester-years stars such as DJ Premier, RZA and Wu-Tang and the lack of skill needed to piece together what is commonly accepted as today’s pop music (retch!).

What’s your take on it? Helpful criticism or empty comments? The timely triade comes ahead of the release of Foals new album ‘Holy Fire’ due out February 11th.
