MGMT look to release dancier record, cite electronic influences!

In an interview with Rolling Stone, psych-group MGMT have noted 90’s breakcore producer Aphex Twin and house music as influences for their new material.

From their usual free-form flow, the duo made up of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser have grabbed the best bits and looped and constructed them to resemble the current records they’ve been listening to.

Goldwasser tells “We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it.”

Already two track names have surfaced “Mystery Disease” and “Alien Days” with the later being described as “that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things.”

The album is tentatively penned for a June release.

If it turns out sounding anything like Erol Alkans remix of “Congratulations” we’ll be more than happy!
