It’s always a good sign when a set starts out with Marshall Jefferson’s “Mushrooms” monologue. Despite being a diehard Dirtybirder, after peeping Eats Everything and Justin Martin’s sets from the BPM Festival Dirtybird vs. Pets Recordings showcase, I have to admit (although I didn’t hear J.Phlip’s yet) that this set from Catz ‘N Dogz secured the “win” for Pets Recordings. The Polish duo were particularly masterful for this performance, as they brought the groove complete with funk, soul and tribal passion. A personal favorite Catz ‘N Dogz track featured about an hour in is “They Frontin'” feat. Monty Luke.
