There’s a reason for Dirtybird’s reputation as the label that has the most fun. Recently they set up a “fan sourced” video contest in conjunction with the release of Claude VonStroke and Kry Wolf’s new single Turbosteppa. The goal of the contest was “creating a dance floor revolution of epic proportions” to find out what “turbostepping” really means.
Clips of the best submissions are featured in the official “Turbosteppa” music video, and when you watch it you’ll see that apparently the true meaning of “turbostepping” is being either as nible or as uncoordinated and awkward as possible, either shredding the dancefloor with your sweet moves or embarrassing yourself and not caring at all. In keeping with the Dirtybird ethos, originality and silliness were key.
Below is grand prize winner Jim Barber’s video entry, “Party Starter,” as well as three awesome honorable mentions. In case you’re wondering what the grand prize actually was, Dirtybird generously gifted Jim with a brand-new iPad Mini, pre-loaded with the full dirtybird records catalogue, so he can turbostep his little heart out to all his DB favs whenever he wants.
