Duke Dumont – Need U (100%) ft. A*M*E

The Duke is scoring more and more gold stars by the production with his uncanny ability to intertwine soulful vocals with reverberating basslines. “Need U (100%)” is an exemplar of his style — a hypnotizing combination of UK bass and deep house, with a magically uplifting mood perfect for the dancefloor. The infusion of British singer-songwriter A*M*E’s voice gives the track a universal appeal, and it’s a special release indeed as the very first off of the Duke’s new Blasé Boys Club imprint.

It’s no surprise this dynamo Londoner was born the son of a record dealer, studied Sonic Arts, and finally broke into the scene after winning the Diesel U Music best new producer award in 2006, before he was signed to any label.

After that he flexed his remixing muscles up with a slew of killer reinterpretations for tracks like Mystery Jets’ “Two Doors Down,” Santigold’s “The Keepers,” and ZZT’s “Partys Over Los Angeles.” But since then has been focusing mainly on his own original creations, with the infectious For Club Play Only EP series on Turbo Recordings, and of course his stand-out release “The Giver,” which has been remixed and sampled over and over in the past few months.

Not to be piegon-holed as a “producer first,” he’s also responsible for an incredible Fabriclive.51 mix, which he describes as “hypnotic, with structure and atmosphere. It represents what I play: groove-based, bordering on the techy side and all with a sense of emotion, which a venue like fabric allows me to express.”
