James Curd – Think You Know E.P.

Emerging from the woodwork of dance music obscurity DFA mainstay James Curd is back with an E.P on German super-label Exploited. The E.P is a refreshing breath of musicality in a deep house scene otherwise slowly suffocating under R’n’B style vocal samples and poorly imitated Moog Bass. The production on tracks like “Yellow Magic” and “Don’t Know How” is powerful and striking, with a distinctive head-nod towards vintage disco via modern dance music standards. It combines the very best of Aeroplane, Bicep and Chic without ever being in danger of sounding cheesy. The organic vibe of vocal production “Think You Know” featuring Annabel Weston is a classic in the making, and an ode to great sounding disco music.

Think You Know is out now on Exploited Records via Beatport and all other good digital distributors.
