RDU 98.5 FM a student radio station in Christchurch run by Canterbury University, aired 5 minutes of pornography audio last weekend.

What could make this situation any worse? Maybe the fact that it was aired during a popular kids program just before 8am. Parents have complained about radio presenters discussing inapropriet material during these sort of hours in the past, but this sure tops anything they could have imagined.

Station manager James Meharry has come out and said the x-rated audio was accidentally broadcast and the person accountable had been “dealt with”.

“There’s no story to be had. It was an accident and I dealt with it with the relevant person.”

Obviously a very embarrassing situation for the station let alone the man behind the obscene audio, but yet seem reluctant to apologise. The station published an apology on their Facebook page which was later taken down.
