Monsieur Monsieur

New names on the block Monsieur Monsieur are making waves with some of the most influential names in techno. The French duo debuted their track on Brodinski’s Bromance records along side of Legend Jacque Lu Cont. On team Bromance they are running with the top crew, gaining fans by the day the two will hit the road this Fall. After hearing their track ‘Arym’ we had to chat with them. Take a look and hear where they came from and where they are going. Big things to come from these guys. Keep your eyes and ears open.

What is your music background? Geoffrey and I were in different bands at the beginning.  I used to dj alone and he was playing with another guy from our hometown Reims.

Where did your careers/interests in electronic music start?

As far as I can remember, I’ve always lived in a musical environment. Ten years ago, we went to the electronic music party created by Yuksek in our hometown Reims, The Elektricity Festival. We have discovered a lot of great bands/djs/producers. And that was the start of a passion.

Aside from talent, what qualities in artists really stand out for you?

Aside from talent it’s important to be charismatic/magnetic and to be good with people.

The most important thing is creativity. A lot of artists don’t have any creativity, they just imitate. To me when you try to imitate, you just destroy your creativity.

What motivated you to enter this area of the music business?

First of all, feedbacks. It was the biggest motivation.

When did you know you wanted to be producers?

When I wanted to listen to music I had in my head.

Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?

Working on our last track Arym for Bromance #5 was our favorite project. We have spent a couple of months to think of our music and especially on our sound.

Is there an artist you want to work with who you have not yet had the opportunity?

It would be great to make a big track with our friend Guillaume from the Shoes, he is a killer producer.

Planes crashing, you have a parachute, whats the next thing you grab before jumping out?

Computers. Btw I need to get a new hard drive for time machine.

Dance music seems to be over saturated at the moment. How do you feel about the current state of Dance Music?

The dance music is over saturated because most of the tracks have the same sound especially in the tech-house. I’m getting bored of it.

On the other side, it can be good. It gives space to new producers and new music. You can now put again some voices on real techno track without sounding like cheap Dance music.

Louis and the whole Bromance crew have been making waves in the industry and reviving the techno scene. How did you team up with them?

We’ve been friends for long time now. We’ve first teamed up in real life and in music after.

We are living a true bromance.

Your first release is with the legend Jacques Lu Cont, quite a start how do you feel about that?

We are really proud of this release, In the Night by Jacques Lu Cont is really good. It’s a real pleasure to release a track with him.

We exchanged mail before we met last month to play together for the Bromance Party in Social Club Paris. He is a very nice person, funny and open minded.

Being from outside of the city what’s your relationship with the Paris crews? Pedro and Ed Banger?

We met and play with the Paris crew and Ed Banger few times. Since we spend more time in Paris we see them and party with them often, Bromance team is really close to the Ed Banger family.

What producers do you think are really pushing boundaries now?

John Convex, The Shoes, Samo Sound Boy and Gesaffelstein.

 Your sound in 3 words.

Black / Champagne / Techno

What’s next on the agenda? Touring?

We are touring with the Brodinski, Gesaffelstein, Club Cheval and Louisahhh!. and studio time, working on a new EP and remixes.

Wow what a lineup! Thanks Hope To See You Out There!
