The Filterheadz fellas hail from Belgium, and they certainly know their way around techno thank you very much. Personally, I have to be in a really specific mood to get the most out of music like this, but ‘Earth’ is strangely accessible. Layers upon layers of groove-filled percussion make you instinctively move yourself. In fact each sound taken individually sounds supermodern, but when they’re all jammed together side by side, it feels completely primal. Maybe that’s why it’s so easy to connect to. I can only assume that if humanity were to somehow descend back into basic tribal culture whilst retaining music technology, we would dance manically to tunes like this each time we gathered to pay tribute to the planet.
