EDC Vegas Shows What They Did For The Community

Shown on a recent FB post, Inomniac events seems to be trolling for supporters. Many expressed dismay after this Summer’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Figures released this week showed that even though one night was cancelled mid-set because of high winds and structure safety, they created jobs and did their part for the economy. Seems a bit to political for a rave promoter, but hey! its an election year.

The annual event held at Las Vegas motor speedway, is a favorite of many festival-goers year after year. US event producer Insomniac events puts on the party as their flagship of a growing EDC brand. Previously held in Los Angeles, Insomniac headed to the desert after altercations including drug and underage problems at events in LA. Many have hinted of dissension in the ranks at the company headed by CEO Pasquale Rottela as other partners loose interest. Though the future of EDC may be hazy, they continue to produce events frequently all over the nation. This year’s EDC hit a speed bump on the second night when bad weather forced a halt for safety reasons. With no backup plan, headliners sets were cancelled and not just downsized. Many party people were extremely disgruntled after trekking through 2 hours of traffic to be turned away soon after. Luckly the all night schedule of events paired perfectly with Vegas’s club scene and ravers hit the strip. Either way the show must go on, and the Carnival finished off Sunday in grand fashion with the desert Sunrise.

Gloating one their Facebook this week, Insomniac produced an economic influence report. The graphic showed 2000 jobs being created, and 344 million dollars in impact after the event. We don’t believe most of these jobs lasted more that a week, so not really sure what was ‘created’ for the long term. Either way maybe Obama should nationalize rave culture to help cut the countries debt. One interesting figure was the daily spend. At a whopping $334 a day it seem the ravers have a job somewhere. Well an nice publicity stunt at least, maybe Insomniac’s figures will sway some conservatives toward to benefits of large scale events such as EDC. Not sure how widespread this will affect fan growth, but hopefully it will help persuade lawmakers and permit offices to loosen up a bit. Red tape by cities, is the number one problem promoters face when making these dreams a reality. Since money talk, hopefully huge profits with insure continued growth of the culture.

Corporate influence really shows more and more, and reporting because publicity in the EDM world. If you see this blast as a PR stunt or an attempt to regain lost hope, only time will tell for the massive EDC Vegas. All we can say is when you hit the polls next month, vote for dance. At least its proven to stimulate the US economy  unlike some of the promises being made in Washington.
