Australia has been given the nod in Ibizia’s annual DJ Awards by taking out ‘Dance Nation of the Year’ highlighting further our nations importance and relevance on the global scale of electronic dance music.

The Nervo twins, who have found unprecedented international success in the last 12 months accepted the award (we would have liked to see DJ Julia Gillard next time).

Other winners comprised of Carl Cox (Techno), Chase & Status (Dubstep/bass), Maceo Plex (Deep House) and Arty (Newcomer), full results below.

It was also good to see praise towards other aspects of the dance world with categories for technology (Soundcloud), best festival (Tomorrowland) and media (Pacha Magazine).

The awards have been running since the late 90’s and known globally as the Oscars for the DJ Community due to its industry panel and selection process (versus the flawed popular vote).

Over the years it has gifted ‘The Kryptonite’ award – the symbol of a secret of hidden element to superstars Roger Sanchez, Basement Jaxx, Frankie Knuckles, Carl Cox, Ferry Corsten and many more!

The 2012 results once again see’s a bevy of international all-stars being recognised for their prolific activity and undivided attention to dance and electronic.
