Dr Dru track re-sparks debate on sampling

A recent number 1 deep house ranking Beatport track by Doctor Dru titled ‘The voice of Dr Dru’ has drawn an extremely close comparison to the 1982 house hit Q – ‘The Voice of Q’.

The deep house producers who has recently collaborated with Adana Twins appears to have taken the main loop of ‘the voice of Q’ and added a bit more low frequency to the overall vibe of the track.

This has re sparked the debate on how acceptable is re-sampling in dance music to build credibility as a producer? Has Doctor Dru’s “original mix” crossed the line of what is considered original?
