Twist in Megaupload legal saga

It has been a while since we have heard about the German Kim Dotcom and his now pretty much defunct company Megaupload.

In what appears to be a technicality, Kim Dotcom may not be prosecuted because although they hosted a tonne of their uploaded content on US servers, Megaupload as an entity never had a HQ in the USA. Judge Liam O’grady who was or is to be involved in this case stated, “I frankly don’t know that we are ever going to have a trial in this matter”.

If this were the case and the trial didn’t go ahead, it has been told all 7 members of the Megaupload team can be trialled individually but only for relatively minor felony of copyright infringement according to their legal team. So many twists in a tale that was meant to serve as an example to the rest of the internet! Take that feds!
