Sales results from Record Store Day

The once USA now global phenomenon of Record Store Day (RSD) sales figures have been announced!

Organised by a committee and held in April every year, the preliminary figures on RSD’s website are indicating a 50% spike in vinyl sales from that of last year’s event, with some vendors vocalising that they achieved double their takings compared to RSD 2011.

Coordinator Spencer Hickman stated that this year saw 230 stores worldwide participate in the niche event which also saw twice as many exclusive vinyl releases on the day compared to 2011! And guess what? 7 of those top 10 selling vinyls overall were exclusives on the day!

Well done fans and record store owners a like! Signs that this format of multimedia is growing in strength. AGAIN!
