New Daft Punk Album For 2012? Probably Not…

Daft Punk

Seems like Daft Punk are possibly launching into 2012 with a new album titled ‘Sky Dives’… but probably not.

The prompt started with a mysterious email from the daughter of a Virgin UK employee who had access to “the servers on Their Computers (sic)”;

Hey guys and girls = 3

My name’s Emma, I’m 19 and i live in London UK!

My dad works at Virgin Records in the UK and has access to the servers on Their Computers.He Came home Friday night with a USB stick, i use it from time to time for my files for Uni. I Had to put some photos from my computer to my dads so i used His USB on Sunday. When I know i did, i found something interesting …

I found a file on the USB titled ‘Daft Punk – Sky Dive (2012) (Previews Promo)’

I am really excited so i thought i would share the files! I do not want my dad to get in trouble I know I’m not naming HIM or myself. I’m not a huge DP fan, but hope this means-something to you guys? Not sure if this has-been released before? Perhaps this is nothing special.

The leak supposedly originates from a Latin American Daft Punk fan site who found it on a forum… all a bit of a stretch so far.

What also makes this gimmicky is a number of things;

  • Why would a non-Daft Punk fan bother sending this out?
  • How would a non-Daft Punk fan figure out it’s relative value? 2012 stuff has already been leaking for months.
  • Why would the daughter of a Virgin UK employee risk her Dads job sending this out? They can trace that shit
  • Isn’t Latin America where the de-famed group The Third Twin originate from? They had a scuffle earlier this year for promoting themselves as directly associated with Daft Punk.
  • Why does a 19 year old living in an English speaking country struggle with basic grammar and spelling?

All seems like a beat up and a fake, even The Daft Club kids have already shut this down.

With that in mind the timings right for a quick 1,2 for any up and coming artists looking to break the scene, as it was heard that Daft Punk were meant to tour Australia this year and the possibility of another Coachella headline set post their storming 2009 tour.

Take it as you will!
